RWPPI's Press Conference at WCES Las Vegas

NEC and Thomson Multimedia newly joined in RWPPI
On January 6, 2001, RWPPI held a press conference at WCES Convention Center in Las Vegas, by inviting press staff from all over the world. All 200 seats of the press conference room were fully occupied when Dr. Sugimoto(Pioneer), General Secretary of the RWPPI started his key note speech. After mentioning facts of RWPPI activities and announcing the start-up of RWPPI North America Liaison Office, Dr. Sugimoto announced the entrance of NEC and Thomson Multimedia to RWPPI for the first time, highlighting the growth of RWPPI members, now composed by 41 companies.
The press conference proceeded with speeches of RWPPI members: LG, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Thomson Multimedia, NEC, Pioneer, Hitachi Maxell, followed by the RW recording and playback demonstration before an active Q&A session. The conference was reported as headline news on TWICE magazine of January 7, 2001, suggesting the high attention on RWPPI movements from US mass-media.
