CeBIT, based in Hanover (Germany), is the world’s largest IT exhibition. In 2005, CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia will be held at the Tuyap Fair venue in Istanbul, Turkey, and will run for six days starting from September 6. The largest IT exhibition to be staged on the Eurasian continent, it is expected to draw around 160,000 visitors from Turkey as well as neighboring regions such as Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle and Near East and Africa. With recordable DVD technology now starting to take hold in the industry, a major shift away from read-only DVD products is widely anticipated.
The RWPPI booth is located in Hall 6, close to the main gate. The top of the booth features a large RWPPI logo, together with the DVD-R/RW format logo and the “Compatible/Convenient/Reliable” slogan for DVD-RW/DVD-R products. The booth is designed with the standard RWPPI layout of a main stage in the centre, DVD disk exhibits on either side and island exhibits for equipment such as recorders and writers.
The main message of the RWPPI booth, concerning the shift from read-only DVDs to recordable DVD-RW/DVD-R products, is conveyed in a short movie entitled “DVD-RW is the best.” The movie features a baby, and is based on the concept of DVD recording being simple and designed for easy playback. The movie has been well received, since it illustrates the love of parents for their children all around the world, irrespective of country or region.
The movie is followed by a real-life demonstration of the movie using the actual products. The demonstration has also proven very popular, with visitors commenting that it is well presented and easy to understand. The presentation invariably attracts large crowds, keeping the reception girls and guides are very busy. During each presentation the booth is surrounded by crowds of interested onlookers, to the extent that the stage itself is completely obscured from the back.
Meanwhile, over in the DVD recorder area, a short quiz is held during breaks between demonstrations on the main stage, and the winners are presented with free DVD-RW disks. The quiz always attracts a good crowd, with participants competing keenly for prizes amidst audible gasps of admiration from the spectators.
RWPPI employees at the booth are both amazed and thrilled at the unexpectedly enthusiastic reaction from visitors to the booth. This augers well for the introduction of other products from RWPPI member companies.
RWPPI is committed to promoting DVD-RW/DVD-R products throughout the world, in Japan (at CEATEC Japan, Makuhari), North America (International CES at Las Vegas), Europe (IFA at Berlin and CeBIT at Hanover), China (CeBIT at Shanghai), and now Istanbul.
