RWPPI convened the 4th regular meeting on December 12, 2000. By the last count, the number of PWPPI's member companies was 39--an increase of four companies since the 3rd meeting held on October 30, 2000. These new members are: Sinano Kenshi Co, Ltd., Spruce Technologies (USA), Opto disc Technology Corporation (Taiwan), and CMC Magnetics Corporation(Taiwan).
After the introduction of the new members, the meeting discussed activities of media and hardware subcommittees and the state of copyright protection with respect to DVD recorders. The discussion was followed by product demonstrations and a presentation on the establishment of a North America liaison office. Fujiwara Takutoshi of Fujiwara-Rothchild, Ltd., concluded the meeting with a special lecture on the future of optical disc media
