TEAC Corporation joined the RWPPI. Participating members now total 42.
On April 25, the RWPPI convened its members for the 6th regular meeting. TEAC Corporation joined as a new member, bringing the number of members from 41 to 42 since the previous meeting on February 27.
During the session, members from TEAC Corporation introduced themselves. After the introduction, the media and hardware subcommittees reported on their current activities. This was followed by a presentation of the European copyright protection system and a demonstration of new technologies. The meeting concluded with a special lecture by music producer Kazuki Kuriyama.
It was just one year ago (in May 2000) that the setup of the RWPPI was announced at a press conference as an organization to promote DVD-R/RW products. The chronicle below summaries the initiative's activities during the past year. Numbers in parentheses represent the number of participating companies.
