Welcoming of Infodisc Technology Korea Inc., Memory-Tech Corporation, Sky Media Manufacturing S. A. (Switzerland) joining as 3 new members; Round Robin Test Report; New Product Technology Demonstration of the all-in-one Videocassette Player /DVD-recorder (DV-RW100).
On April 17th, the 18th RWPPI General Meeting was held. The Meeting was opened with the speech from the RWPPI Representative, Mr. Koki Aizawa, who explained and emphasized the importance of instigating products to use the VR Format.
As new members to join our organization for this time, the following 3 companies were happily welcomed: Infodisc Technology Korea Inc, Memory-Tech Corporation, and Sky Media Manufacturing S. A. This was followed by a short introductory presentation of their business background by each company. Afterwards the report from the Hardware and Media Working Groups were made, and the RWPPI staff member presented the report on the CeBIT show. Following it, the previous day's press release of the Round Robin Test progress report and the next Round Robin Test plan (Stage 2, with expected increase of 7 more companies to equal 31 participating companies) was presented by Mr. Uchiumi, the chairman of the Round Robin Tests.
From the RWPPI Member's Consciousness survey report summarized by ADK Inc., the Round Robin Tests scored with very high interests, which characterized the sharp difference between the previous survey reports. Thereafter, the all-in-one video/DVD Recorder (DV-RW100) from Sharp Corporation presented its new product demonstration, which was received with interest.
For the special lecture we regularly have at the end of our General Meeting,
we had Mr. Hidemi Takasu, the General Manager of the Semiconductor Research
& Development Headquarters of Rohm Corporation for this time. The topic
of his lecture was "Speed and Harmonization of differing Businesses
- the key to winning in Research Development", covering how to meet
with high profitability strategy and research development with non-competitive
businesses.
