The 21st RWPPI General Meeting was held on October 28.
It started with aspeech from the RWPPI Representative, Mr. Koki Aizawa. He made the point that gthe
year-end sales season is just around the corner and 24 new models of DVD
recorders are going to be introduced into the market. It is very encouraging
for us that models are increasingly incorporating both DVD-RW and DVD-R.h
PinnacleSystems, Inc. (Japanese agent: Jungle, Inc.) has recently joined RWPPI as a new
member. After a detailed account of the Round Robin Test, a report on the
exhibitions at the IFA and CEATEC shows was presented. Also, the plan for WCES,
an electronics show to be held in January 2004 (Las Vegas, United States), wasannounced.
Duringthe meeting, a special lecture was given by Mr. Masaaki Fushiki, Vice President of Dolby Laboratories International Services, Inc. in Japan,
regarding the current situation of D-Cinema and the corporate strategies that Dolby Laboratories is pursuing. Mr. Fushiki applauded the growth in
movies/music-related digital entertainment and provided an explanation of Dolby Pro Logic IIx, which was released just recently. He also told the
participating members that he would continue to provide more fascinating and innovative solutions for todayfs world, where the demand for effective
introduction of high-quality, multi-channel content for both cinemas and home theaters is increasing.
