The meeting started with the opening speech from the Representative, Mr. Aizawa: "Nowadays, there are a great variety of models that can record DVDs, making it difficult for one to choose the right product. With such variations, I felt the need for us to provide useful information so that the user can choose the ideal DVD for recording. Chances of sending personally recorded DVD contents to your friends and relatives for viewing are increasing. From such observations, we must continue to place paramount importance with our efforts on providing information and compatibility reliance between optical storage products and hardware."

Following the opening speech, we welcomed the joining of the new member: Falcon Technologies International L.L.C. Dr. Derk Jan Adelerhof introduced their company business to the group. Falcon Technologies is an optical storage manufacturer having their headquarter and plant in Ras Al Khaimah of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The plant started running from September of 2005, mainly manufacturing DVD-R and DVD-R DL discs. Next, the Secretary office presented the report regarding the SINOCES 2006 joint promotion held in Qingdao, China from July 7 – 10th. RWPPI appealing attracted many visitors to the booth. The large "Enjoying Life with DVD-RW & R" and "DVD-R/RW" logos on the booth wall with main stage live demonstrations beside the variety of DVD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD Dual Layer disc displays, made the booth exciting and eye-catching. New hardware as DVD Recorders, writers, players, and PC software with comprehensive demonstrations and answers by the exhibitors really added more, where no other booth had such variety of DVD-RW and R product line-up.

In continuation, the next plan for the Round Robin Test as "Stage 6" were presented. First, Mr. Ishii (of Pioneer Corporation) who was newly elected as the head chair (of the total Round Robin Tests) explained the overall progress to date and updates of the organization. Each of the chairs and co-chairmen of the respective Working Groups explained further details of the activities in plan. Mr. Ishii finished his presentation saying that he would like to "contribute in establishing steady and high quality products in the market through the continuation of Round Robin Tests focusing on compatibility tests of newly developed formats / standards arising from the DVD Forum."

The attendees were struck with awe by the beautiful high quality of HD images taken by the new DVD Camcorder shown through the Plasma Display. Everyone reconfirmed again the vast potentials of HD yet for DVD camcorders.

Last on the agenda, the special lecture by Dr. Heitaro Nakajima, currently the Chairman of both Bifrostec Inc. as well as CDs 21 Solutions made his presentation. Dr. Nakajima explained how he started with nothing in the industry, reflecting on how difficult it was for the progression and development of the CD-R as we know today, accumulating to mark the business establishment for 10 Billion discs. He said there is no end to the optical disc business. Like a 1,000-yen note, 5,000-yen note, and 10,000-yen note, there is the CD, DVD, and Blue. He emphasized how each optical disc has it's own special role of function, while still developing into the future.
