The intention of this regular meeting was also to be the annual general meeting for fiscal year 9. The representative, vice representative, and auditor respectively were re-elected; Mr. Aizawa (Pioneer Corporation), Mr. Chiba (Sharp Corporation), and Mr. Mizuno (TDK Corporation) were elected again.

In addition, the business report and audit for fiscal year 8 were approved.
The Secretariat proposed the activities for this fiscal year, fiscal year 9, and the budget to implement those activities was approved.
In order to leave an archive for the optical disc industry of the steps taken by RWPPI during the nine years since its founding in 2000, the decision was made to establish a Committee for Compiling a History of Activities (with volunteer membership) to create an activities history.

The fifth JRT (Joint Round Robin Test) Tokyo Seminar and the fifth Taiwan Seminar had been reported, held on February 15 and February 21 respectively, of the previous fiscal year. The Secretariat presented summaries of work accomplished during each of those seminars on Stage 7 of the Round Robin Test.
The Taiwan Seminar, held at the Spring City Resort Hotel in Beitou, was highlighted. About 50 people participated. In addition to the WG’s reports of work accomplished, it was reported that the lecture by Mr. Komatsu, president of BOC (Holdings), Ltd., had been well received.

Next, the DVD Forum WG-6 chairman Mr. Taniguchi (Pioneer Corporation) reported the latest information regarding the DVD download disc; it is now in the final planning stage.
The DL(Dual Layer), which is now under discussion, is close to being standardized; and the book of specifications is expected to be officially released soon.

The final item on the agenda: Mr. Nishi (section manager of the Technical Operations Group, Digital Media Production Department, Motion Pictures Division, IMAGICA Corp.) gave a special lecture entitled “ 'DVD On Demand' - Opportunities for the long tail business.“
In the lecture, he talked about entering into the download business, which is going to be the new method of supplying the DVD-Video market. He talked about how the business would work best by using the resources of the IMAGICA Corporation's post-production services, and at the same time, avoiding risks.
Apparently, the DVD Download business has just started, involving many related industries.
