In cooperation with the RDVDC (Recordable DVD Council), the RWPPI has undergone joint recording and playback tests to verify compatibility for optical storage discs, recordable/playback devices, and PC application software (hereunder referred to as the "JRT"). The latest test report was announced on February 23rd, at the Tokyo Marunouchi Conference Square M Plus.
At the opening of the seminar, the Head Chairman of the Round Robin Tests, Mr. Ishii (Pioneer) emphasized the importance of these tests and said "51 manufacturers actively participated in the verification of these compatibility tests as the world's largest in the industry, where such results as an outcome should benefit the end users as well." In continuation, the summary of the test results were announced by Mr. Ishii of RWPPI and Mr. Jeong (Samsung) of the RDVDC.
Further detailed results from each of the respective RWPPI Working Groups (WG) were then presented by: Mr. Fujiki (JVC) of the Physical Format WG; Mr. Shinohara (TEAC) of the Logical Format Writer WG; Mr. Kawahara (Pioneer) of the Logical Format Recorder WG; and Mr. Shinoki (Kenwood) of the Playback Compatibility WG. This was then followed by the results report from the RDVDC·SWG/CWG Chairman, Mr. Tokushuku (Hitachi LG Data Storage).
At the end of the seminar, Mr. Aizawa, the Representative of RWPPI made a short speech with convictions to continue future joint activities with the RDVDC, and for the benefit of the end-users.
